I don't think anyone in the world would would they? I tried to submit my comments and missed the number so they are lost in the ether! They were corporal punishment and national service...hackneyed suggestions and all that - but if parents aren't going to take control of their kids, then the teachers and the forces should step in. Worked in the past. I'm a parent, I don't want anyone hurting my Son - but if he's ever in danger of becoming like the filthy murdering scum above then I would want everyone around him to take a zero tolerance approach. Blimey, who’s expressing sympathy for them?

Would do wonders for the murder rate, which would fall through the floor within a very short space of time, just the first few fell through the trap door at 8am. Apparently there were were 57 murders in 1965 – the first year of abolition. In 1975 the total for the year was 107 which rose to 173 by 1985 and 214 in 1995. The figure for 2005 is 280. What is really worrying is that there have been 71 murders committed by people who have been released after serving "life sentences" in the period between 1965 and 1998 according to Home Office statistics. Executed murderers don't re-offend! Some 6,300 people are currently serving sentences of “life in prison” for murder - what's that costing us? Statistics from the USA indicate that the murder rate varies according to the nature of the method, and they don't like Old Sparky! This to my mind indicates a definite deterrent effect.
