Business to boom in York

I read with some interest today that apparently there are drug dealing beggars at work on the streets of York. I know this to be true as I have seen them in action. Not in Stonegate, as the story describes, but outside the Splash Palace on Parliament Street. I wanted to tell a police officer but I could only find two female PCSO’s who weren’t interested and just thanked me for the information. I was surprised they didn’t give me the Crimestoppers hotline number. In fact I wish they had, I might have got a quicker and better response.

Anyway, today’s blog is not an anti-police rant. What I want to do is make you aware that this sort of anti-social and illegal activity in York is not going to go away or get better. What will happen is a boom in begging, thieving, drug dealing, street drinking, violence and all other associated crimes.

To say that York is a major tourist city with some of the most beautiful buildings in the world, I can’t understand why the council actively encourage scum and lowlife to our city when it would be much easier to get rid of them.

Too many rough sleepers eh? Now what would you do to solve this problem. Personally I would give them the high-pressure hosepipe treatment. This would not only clean the streets of both of human waste and litter, but would also give these wasters a good wash! But what does City of York Council do? Yes, they build the “Homeless Hilton” - AKA Arclight. This place is far posher than many hotels in York and will attract the elite of Britain’s street traders and scroungers. Before you know it there will be an application for an extension to be built on the grounds of “necessity”. What about housing for the genuine needy like working families struggling to pay their weekly bills under excessive Labour taxation?

Anyway, we all know that most of these beggars are about as destitute as Mohammed Al-Fayed. They work a standard 9-5 day before getting the train back to Leeds to spend their ill-gotten gains. Yet York’s leaders do nothing to discourage them and the police fail to use the powers available to them to arrest and remove this scum from the streets.

Quite simply, begging and street drinking etc can be solved by some very simple measures.

1) Close Arclight, Peasholme and YACRO. With nowhere to sleep the filth would have to go elsewhere.

2) Stop treating substance addiction as an illness and remove the right to claim Incapacity Benefit on the grounds of being pissed or stoned. If they could only get Jobseekers Allowance they would have to clean up their acts or starve to death.

3) As a temporary measure, move all the current residents of the aforementioned hostels to Chapelfields. It is out of the way and they would fit in nicely.

4) Detonate a small nerve device over Chapelfields.

Voila! Problem solved and York could be a nice city again.

See you soon…

I grew up near the King Willy in Chappy. Blowing the area up would be the best thing for it.
