Postman Adolf and his red bag

Last week I unwittingly became a victim of unsolicited, hate-filled, political propaganda. At the time I didn’t think so, but after reading today’s story in “The Nu-Press” it has become clear to me that the individual who sneaked into my block of flats, dressed as a postman, was actually an evil left-wing bigot delivering Labour’s (very expensive at £6754.45) “Parliamentary News” magazine.

In light of this revelation is it fair to assume that the very same police who are ‘probing’ how the BNP managed to do exactly the same thing with one of their own, more factual, leaflets at the University of York will be smashing Hugh Bayley’s front door in at 6am tomorrow?

Predictably, this highly amusing incident in the University post room has brought out commentators, from both left and right, on the Nu-Press website. One clot even tried to suggest I was behind the whole thing! There is a more sinister element to the whole issue though. The story quotes Sam Bayley (suspicious surname!), a silly little boy pretending to be a politician, from York University Students Union, as saying that (regarding the BNP)…

“Our students do not want to see them on campus, and we will do what we can to support them in that.”

Fair enough Sam. However I too am a student and a member of YUSU and I don’t recall anyone asking me my opinion. So he is lying. What he meant to say was “Me and my pseudo-lefty pals think it’s cool to oppose the BNP even though we don’t know anything about them really. So we will, like all liberal do-gooders, be offended by them on behalf of other people and speak out against this perfectly legal political party.”

The actual offending leaflet itself doesn’t seem to have anything too controversial in it. It accuses Britain’s political leaders of failing to defend Britain’s economy, culture and land, and says they have failed the nation by allowing Muslims to create “large and hostile colonies”. All true so far, so what’s the problem? Of course, in PC Britain, the police have to work themselves up into a frenzy and look for some collars to feel in situations like this. In reality if any crimes have been committed, which I doubt very much is the case, then they could only be trivial ones such as wearing a blue jumper with epaulettes and exposing the university post room staff as being unable to notice when someone who doesn’t work with them is in the room! Having once worked in this very place it is no surprise that this sort of thing could happen. Anyone could wander in and out at will back in 1997 and under the leadership of former military supremo (I think he was a chef) Ken Batten, the University security chief who is partly responsible for cutting down on manpower in his own department, things will probably get worse before they get better. Batten, or “Niner” as he calls himself in radio speak, is a complete clown and I was shocked to find out he still holds his post after 10 years.

Anyway, this incident was only a few leaflets surreptitiously slipped into the internal mail. There was nothing untrue in it and if YUSU and the Nu-Press (judging by today’s editorial) are worried that…

“Targeting students would be particularly underhand. These young people are just starting out on adult life, and just beginning to form political views of their own. That can make them impressionable.”

…then I chose the wrong university to study at. Surely the University of York isn’t full of students who are unable to look at facts and evidence and form their own opinions? Hmmmm, maybe it is!

Anyway, love them or loathe them, at least the BNP policies are clear from the outset. If you vote for them they don’t suddenly go back on all their promises and do the exact opposite. Unlike the Labour party…

See you soon…

Well put. The comments have reached 105, but the Press will probably chicken out and pull it.

Is Sam Bayley any relation of ‘Hugely Boring’ Bayley, as he is known at the House?

    Good question! Let me investigate…

  3. Rust Says:

None of Hugh’s bios mention his son’s name but he is about 22-23 years old so there’s every chance.

  4. Spunj Says:

Perhaps the Press would like to add a copy of these leaflets in tomorrows edition? We could all do with a bit of decent reading material. (for a change)

The Press got to over 140 comments. It was OK apparently whilst the left wingers were slagging off the the BNP, but towards the end they were being run rings around by a couple of BNP stalwarts. Sometime this morning all the comments were taken off.

In a democracy there should be freedom of speech and the voters have indeed the right to hear the arguments and make their own minds up.

In the Northern Echo today there’s even more hysteria, with enemies like that the BNP don’t need friends! - http://tinyurl.com/44k95m

    Deleting dissenting comments Rust?

Not very “free speech” of you?

    Imagine my surprise…

Ignore me, I got my stories mixed up - thought this was the other one and didn’t know where my comments disappeared to!
